May 27th, 2008 Posted in Travel And Vacation

Any Alaska vacation is not complete without some exquisite Alaskan gifts. These gifts may be Alaskan medallions, Gold in quartz rings, Pocket watches, Money Clip, Assay Bar, Genuine Certified Nuggets. The Alaskan society has excellent Qiviut (a downy-soft underwool of Arctic musk ox which is eight times warmer than wool) items to the society as a great northern gift. The Alaska resort has a lot to offer the visitors.

Qiviut is left naturally by the Arctic ox during the months of spring. It is extraordinarily light; Qiviut is one of the best in quality and finest natural fibers known to man though a bit pricey. There are more gifts like creative igloo toys, Bowls, Antique replicas, Candies, Chocolates, Jellies, Frozen Salmon, Halibut fish and meats. Also, there are various other items available as the legendary Eskimo Articles, DVDs of Alaska’s locations and Christmas baskets of Alaskan treats.

A very famous gift among these is the Ulu (pronounced as ooloo) knife. They come in different shapes and sizes. The traditional ulu knife was an Eskimo’s tool with a sharp edge for cutting or carving made of slate and bone. The Eskimos created them in all sizes from a small blade for cutting skins to a cleaver for carving meat. Though these days the knives are manufactured from stainless steel and consist of a hardwood handle for rigidness and ease.

The tourists and visitors to Alaska are introduced to traditions and native customs of times through these gifts.  Also they serve the purpose of keeping the memories of Alaska visit young, forever. Moreover, they tell us about some great cultural land where living was not this easy in early ages and people used to live in igloos.
